Moore's Law gives birth to yet another Monster - SD Card!

Just think how many Cat Videos you can store on this monster of a Card!   You will no longer need the hairballs to be considered a crazy cat person!!

“Just a few short years ago the idea of a 1TB capacity point in an SD card seemed so futuristic..." –  said Sam Nicholson, CEO of Stargate Studios

I find his shock to be a bit on the humorous given the speed at which the memory industry has made leaps and bounds from the day I bought my first 1GB SD Card less than ten years ago.  The fact that is so very clear to me as I type this short review. of the announcement by WD that they have broken the 1TB barrier.  We all know that now that they have done so that the other manufacturers will follow suit.  I look forward to the day when my future Samsung Note 10 has a 10TB SD card in its expansion.

That details that I will be able to capture in my photographs of the wondrous beauty I see all around me in my home State of Alaska, will be phenomenal!  Not to mention the fact that I will be able to hold every last scrap of data that I have EVER deemed savable for future possible use or review, will be right there on that very same card!   It is insane for sure as I think about it today, yet I can in that same moment recognize that the insanity of today will be the new announcement of a few years from now.  In fact, I would not be surprised to see the the first 1PB (Petabyte) SD card before 2031.   There is no reason not too and far too many reasons why someone just might need to store that much data someday on a card capable of fitting in the even more fabulous Samsung Note 21...

The world is amazing and ever changing and improving!  If we can avoid blowing each other up and learn to play nice in the sandbox of life then we just might be amazed at what new miracles of technology will appear as Moore's Law marches on!

Walking War Robot

I just stumbled across a cool game that just celebrated its 2nd year in existence!  Its called Walking War Robot.   It is worth downloading and playing, especially if you are an old-style MW through MW4 fan like I was.   This app has lots of in-app purchases but what is very cool about it is you don't have to purchase them in order to get the cool stuff.  It will take you a few months of gameplay to earn them outright but that is half the fun in my book.

Here is a promotional video that launched it, and it is clear the developers have been working hard to improve the game and its options!

You can find it on:

It's free so there is nothing to lose and lots of Silver and Gold to be won!

2016 FIRST Robotics Competition game, "FIRST STRONGHOLD"

This looks to be an interesting year for with 2016 FIRST Robotics Competition game, "FIRST STRONGHOLD" Challenge.

This is should be fun to watch as the teams seek to attack and defend.   It is competitions like these that help develop the next generation of truly competent Robotics.  Each time we raise the bar with competitions like these we are entertained, but more importantly the teams are challenged and they grow in their understanding of the capabilities and current limitations of robotics.

You can find more information out about this event from their website: FIRST.

Is 3D Printing and the Future?

Is 3D Printing the future?  There are some who are using this disruptive technology to push the envelope of manufacturing.  News such as 3D Printed Guns and Gun parts are what grab headlines but there are other areas that using it for other uses such as jewelry making to pot handles.  Is this a technology that will eat into the businesses of Hardware/Home Improvement type stores?  I suspect it is a distinct possiblity at some point in the next 25 years.

MECH Update - HOW TO RIDE KURATAS - Suidobashi heavy industry

I am a big Armored Mech fan.  Here is the latest and and greatest from Suidobashi.  I am certain that I don't have the $1.35 Million required to buy this oversized toy.  However it is definitely a small step in the right direction, in my opinion.  I am particularly impressed with the control yoke. It is very cool, though it could be made larger and strapped into as part of the cockpit command seat, which would make it even easier to operate by natural movement.

If I ever did buy one I guarantee the BB cannon would be replace with at least a .22 caliber!  The gun would become a small flame thrower too.  As is though, I doubt the carbon armor is of much use.  That too would have to be upgraded.  Then there is the small detail of mobility.  The wheels would need to become tracks if it were going to be of any use off road. Clearly this is a very high priced toy and not a real combat mech, though it does give me food for thought.

Dr. Amit Goffer Argo Medical at Technion Board of Governors

I was very fascinated by the Rewalk device I posted last night so I went looking for more information on Dr. Amit Goffer, I found the following speech and demonstration.

The device is not as unobtrusive nor does it allow for the level of free flowing mobility at say the level of the Six-Million Dollar Man, but it is clearly obvious to me that over time the device will move that direction with out all the expensive surgeries and the like. The natural iterative innovation that this product will undergo in the next decade will naturally move it to the point where the "crutches" will no longer be needed. I am certain that the brain trust that Dr. Amit Goffer has assembled at Argo Medical Technologies will indeed be offering an updated self-balancing ambulatory device. I would anticipate that it will have a linked exo-skeletal suit that will integrate with a smart processor based clothing body suit that will monitor the movements of the upper torso gestures to initiate the routines. I would expect that it will utilize and be positionally aware of its world via a link to a micro-sized version of the Google Street View camera system that not only captures images but utilizes laser range finding to three dimensionally interpolate its geo location.

This technology solutions-based company is a definite must watch for anyone who is interested in the coming exo-skeletal revolution.  Dr. Amit speaks in this video of his motivations, which I am certain he has experienced due to his own condition, of the eliminating pressure sores and decreasing the re-hospitalization and cost by a third. I would bet by the time the product reaches its apex the number will be closer to half or more on the latter.

Enjoy the video. I know I did.

Exoskeleton Suit

It has been a while since I posted anything on exo-skeletons. This video is amazing it is simple in nature and cost-effective solution. It is a working draft that can help so many people once it becomes available. Well done Dr. Amit Goffer! Well done sir!
